These sweet, little brown transferware egg cups were found in Provence at one of my favorite flea markets in Carpentras. Egg cups have always grabbed my attention, and I just love this set!

A little History of the Esteemed Egg Cup:

The concept of egg cups dates back over 2,000 years to Ancient Rome, where small vessels were used to serve eggs at the start of meals. The form evolved over centuries, with the Middle Ages seeing a tray-like "ovier," leading to the modern cup shape around 1520. By the 19th Century, egg cups were individual china pieces and sometimes in silver or gilded gold.
